IIT Mentors is a PanIIT Global Mentorship Program set up with the goal of “alumni helping alumni”. The program aims to unlock the powerful network of IIT alumni for the benefit of alumni. Simply put, it strives to “touch the lives” of fellow alumni.
IIT Global Mentorship Program aims to provide individuals with useful and relevant guidance at every step of an individual’s career and empower him/her to minimize obstacles, improve competencies and maximize growth. Targeted towards IIT alumni and their family members, current or former faculty members and current students of IITs, the program helps one gain valuable insight in his/her career, irrespective of whether one is a fresh graduate, mid-level manager or the CXO of a company.
The Programs
1. Entrepreneurship Track: Focused on helping and supporting entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs.
2. Corporate Track: Focused on helping people in their professional lives with their career related mentoring.
3. Academics & R&D Track: Focused on providing targeted mentoring to people who are primarily focused on R&D, either in academia or in R&D labs.
4. New Graduates: Focused on individuals entering the corporate world just after the completion of graduation/post graduation or going from under graduate to post graduate studies. Programs to assist and guide them in their post graduate choices, internships, job interviews and choosing the right field.

The program was launched in the US during IITK Golden Jubilee in the Bay Area in July, 2010. Infosys CEO and MD Kris Gopalakrishnan, an IITM alumnus and the chief mentor, kick- started the launch of IIT Mentors in India in March 2011 in Bengaluru.
With over 70 mentors and 300 mentees, the program is run by IIT Mentorship Operations Team (MOT) with Sandeep Jain (IIT K-1988), Ashok Das (IIT K-1985 ), Rakesh Kumar Misra (IIT K-1996) and Neeraj Gupta (IIT R-2002) forming the global management team. The program is facilitated by a gamut of experienced professionals, business leaders, entrepreneurs and thought leaders in diverse domains from around the world who bring with them rich experience, valuable insight and extensive contacts.
IIT Mentors has local chapters in London, Chicago, and the Bay Area, in addition to Bengaluru, Delhi and Hyderabad. By 2012, it will have local chapters in, Mumbai, Lucknow, Kharagpur and New York. These local chapters will offer scalable mentoring operations and a locally connected network of mentees that can leverage the support of the global mentor pool.
