IIT Alumni in Nation Building

PANIIT alumni India is the collective body of alumni from all the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) across India. It engages itself in Nation building, Policy advocacy to the government, in providing Networking opportunities to the IIT Community, Enhancing the IIT brand and in creating global Industry linkages using its Alumni.

In December 2006, PANIIT Global conference was held in Mumbai, India with over 5000 IIT alumni coming together for the event. PAN IIT conference successfully is inspiring, involving IIT Alumni towards Nation building and Bharat transformation. The following six streams were identified as areas of intervention in Nation building:

  • Knowledge Economy
  • Poverty alleviation
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Decentralized Services
  • Technology for Nation Building
  • Accountable Governance

Significant progress has been made in catalyzing Nation Building projects and the following is the current set of nation building projects being pursued.

IITians for ITI's

IITians for ITIs' is initiated by a group of IIT alumni to drive sustainable excellence in the Technical/vocational training in India by creating institutions similar to the IITs but focused on vocational education and highly skilled workers, thereby creating excellence model for 5000 ITIs to emulate.

IIT IUCEE

‘Indo-US collaboration for Engineering Education’ (IUCEE) seeks to create an Engineering Faculty institute for fostering Curriculum collaboration, R & D, Quality Accreditation and   Entrepreneurship Education thus creating support network for 100,000 Engineering Faculty across India & US.

Parikrma

Parikrma aims to transform lives of under-served children in one generation by following a 360° support to child – providing Nutrition, Family care & healthcare in addition to Education. Thus, it takes care of a child from street all the way to the job-street, making the urban poor compete on Equal terms in the society.

IIT Reach 4 India

What happens when enabled corporate professionals, on a 1 Year Employer sponsored sabbatical, ‘Reach 4 India’ across its 5500 taluka’s, with only one agenda:- Implement self sustainable Nation building models (including PANIIT Projects) that make corporate India go rural and local - for creating jobs & markets…

IIT Seed

‘Stimulating Education & Enhancing Development’ has a 3-pronged approach to stimulate economic development – Basic literacy using partner NGOs, Basic education for parents in subjects like on Finance, Healthcare and Opportunity college for skill training of young adults, all supported by e-learning.
